Multicultural Awareness
Having a multicultural awareness means that regardless of the color of our skin, where we were born, the language we consider our mother tongue, our sexual orientation or abilities or disabilities, each person is a melting pot of history that is unique. Culture is defined as “the beliefs, arts, customs, institutions and all other products of human thought and work created and employed by a people or group at a particular time”. How that culture lives in us, affects us in nearly all aspects of our lives, including coaching. Not every issue is necessarily related to culture, but some are and it can be liberating to understand how it plays out in our experiences.
